2007 Rocky River IBA Summary
2007
Western Cuyahoga Audubon is proudly announced that our Rocky River Important Bird Area Project was in its second year. On April 1, 2007 we gathered our volunteers together for a review of 2006 year's data and analyze. We also went over the volunteer possibilities for this year. We have several new components, including vegetation and vernal pool surveys. Click here for details. Point finding began early this year. Training took place during white-out conditions. But, that didn't deterred our hardy point finders. Sorry, no pictures of training during white-out. All the original points from year 2006 were re-found & re-flagged in record time. Thank you Point Finding Team. Observer training took place on May 20, 2007.
The training was conducted outside in Rocky River Reservation this year.
Being outside gave the Observers a better
understanding of how the surveys are to be conducted. The surveys are
being done between May 25, 2007 and July 15, 2007. Vegetation survey training took place June 16, 2007 Why do a vegetation survey. Click here and find out why. The results from that our Vegetation Surveyors collect may help show what affects the Emerald Ash Borer has on our forests.
