Sandy Ridge Reservation, Lorain County Metroparks

Leader: Tim Fairweather

A nesting Great Horned Owl was the bird highlight of this blustery day.  The Sandy Ridge meadow was deep in snow and wind stirred up snow-devils. Two Red-tailed Hawks perched in a tree at the edge of the meadow. Emerging from the forest, to the iced-over water area we could see last year’s Bald Eagle nest, but the eagles did not put in an appearance for us.
