15 birders, 30 species
Rusty Blackbirds got this bird walk off to a great start.
Pairs of Hairy Woodpeckers, Pileated Woodpeckers and Wood
Ducks were setting up housekeeping in tall trees. The group saw six
woodpecker species at South Mastick, and several birders picked up
the seventh - Red-headed Woodpecker -
by making
a side trip to the wetland between Little Met
and Big Met Golf Courses.
