South Mastick Field Trip

Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 8 a.m.

Leaders:  Rich and Karen Kassouf

15 birders, 30 species

Rusty Blackbirds got this bird walk off to a great start.  Pairs of Hairy Woodpeckers, Pileated Woodpeckers and Wood Ducks were setting up housekeeping in tall trees. The group saw six woodpecker species at South Mastick, and several birders picked up the seventh - Red-headed Woodpecker -  by making  a side trip to the wetland between Little Met  and Big Met Golf Courses.
